How to Avoid “Me-Too” Marketing

Sprouted-Header_10.18.13It’s SO tempting, especially when you are just starting out with your business, to “co-opt” another successful coach’s style. After all, if she’s growing like gangbusters doing it that way what’s to say your biz won’t also take off if you follow her lead?

While I understand this urge entirely, I think it ends up hurting you more than helping you, and here’s why. When you succumb to what I like to call “me-too marketing,” you are merely a diluted version of someone else. And that won’t help you attract your ideal clients.

Create Your OWN Blueprint
Only when you get quiet and do the [admittedly hard] work of figuring out what YOU stand for will you understand how to position your marketing so you can present yourself in your most authentic light.

Once you do that, your message, your look and feel, your photos, your color palette will ALL align with how you want to serve. And when you do that, well, buckle your seatbelt, because you’ll be in for one wild ride—especially if you are consistently delivering answers to your audience’s most pressing problems!

So, don’t feel as if you need to do exactly what so-and-so says or what whatsername did because often your own template—in all its beautiful “messiness”—makes you a much more relatable and ultimately much more interesting practitioner.
