Leap, Then Look?

I’d like to share a strategy that is helping me quickly gain traction with my health coaching practice, Green Dot Garden. It’s not revolutionary, but it WORKS:

I’m putting myself out there like crazy!

Because I’m dedicated to growing Green Dot alongside Sprouted Content in 2013, and we are in the thick of garden-planning season, I’ve been raising my hand and seeking out any—and all—opportunities to speak, present, teach, and contribute. And you know what? Things that I previously thought were out of my reach (best left to an “expert”) are flowing to me at warp speed!

Has this required me to take a big leap of faith? Hell, yes.

Am I in a position where I have to create a lot of content to backfill the courses I’ve successfully pitched? You betcha.

But you know, I wouldn’t have it any other way because the alternative was sitting on the sidelines, AGAIN, wishing I was the one sharing my passion and knowledge instead of the speaker.

At some point you just have to boot yourself out of your comfort zone and quit hiding out. To do this, ask yourself often: “What have I got to lose? What do I have to gain?” My guess the respective answers are: nothing and everything.

Think about how you want to grow your business. Do you want to break into corporate wellness? Start a YouTube channel? Drive school lunch reform? Commit to your area of focus.

Research 5 people, places, or organizations that can help you further that focus. REACH OUT to these people (call, email, or pay them a visit) within the week and ask how you can support them. I think you’ll be amazed at how you’re received and what opens up for you.

Let us know how it goes in the comments below!
